| I failed to take down the name of a person from SAA, whom I asked for help and she totally refused and was extremely rude to me. I was travelling with a colleague of mine, who checked me in the previous night and she put my email address for the boarding pass to be sent to me. The email never reached me and I thought the airport would be the best place to get the help. I was extremely late but I was fortunate (I thought) to catch the lady as she was starting to walk to the gates, I explained the story to her and what I needed, she just walked away and told me there's nothing she can do. I asked what my options were as I needed to know what to do, she just left and said she cannot assist. I went towards the security check points and I was attended by a very helpful gentleman who tried assisting me, even though he isn't part of SAA, he worked with me to try and figure out a solution.
The most frustrating thing about SAA is the online platform that is not useful. I spent a lot of time, trying to see if I cannot resend myself the boarding pass and there was just no option to do that. With other airlines, you are able to manage your booking and make all the tweaks and changes as you see fit and I never have to deal with personnel on this. It was unfortunate that I had to be treated like that by someone who was meant to be of assistance to me as a paying client to SAA.
When my colleague got to the gate and was boarding, she asked that they please print my boarding pass so that she can take it to me. The SAA employee was still going on, not hiding the fact that I should not get any help from them as "I should have arrived early if I had issues." Things happen, she cannot insinuate that I deliberately self sabotaged like that, she should have given me the same attitude and help I received from the gentleman that didn't work for SAA. She's not customer-centric at all and doesn't carry the SAA brand with pride.
We were finally rescued by her colleague, a gentleman who printed the boarding pass and came to fetch me so that I can still travel accordingly. It is a pity that I don't have her name, but she was the last person to leave the SAA counters to go to the boarding gates, she also has blonde/brown braids as a hairstyle. I wish you can deal with such matters accordingly, it dents your brand badly. |

my flight was for 11h30am, i was at the airport from 10am.
during the boarding time we were told our flight have engine brake down we must wait for 20 to 30min. after that we were told we must wait for a flight from JHB to come with the spares to fix the problem, that flight came around 15h00. we were told we must wait for 2hours more but there was no luck. Supervisor on day shift said to us there will be an aircraft coming from JHB to accommodate some of us, but that didn't happened. we were then told flight will be fixed and ready to departure at 17h30 but that didn't happened. by this time no 1 was communicating to us flight times was just getting change again and again on the screens. Supper vouchers were offered after we have fight for them.
We ended up waiting for the last flight that was coming from JHB and the flight came around 22h15. i arrived at OR Tambo around midnight 00:00 and i was still going to North west i arrived at 03h30am on Sat morning. all my plans for the 22nd and 23rd were messed up because of SAA with their poor services. |

| MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER.My bag was not loaded on a plane to Mauritius, and it was sent to me after 4days. While I had nothing to wear at all.
The reason I was given for not loading my bag was not tagged, but when I receive it all tags were still intact. Please the people working on laggage must be professional enough to understand how inconvenience it is to travel without a penty. |

| I rechecked my baggage at Johannesburg airport only to arrive at Durban and my baggage had not arrived. I arrived at Durban 11am. I was informed my baggage had not arrived and would arrive in a couple of hours. My address was taken and that it would be delivered. My baggage arrived at 8:40pm after back and forth. SAA was very unapologetic. I never received any official apology from SAA or any official, neither was any care shown. I missed a number of my appointments and was completely distraught as all my things was in my baggage. I was practically hanging after long hours of flight. |

| I was not happy with the experience. I booked my flight, checked in on line early and arrived at the apiary early to board. I was among the first people to board flights and settle in. Someone else had the same seat number. Informed the cabin crew wh then came back, called me out of the seat placed me into another seat and said thats how it is on the system. No explanation as to why I was moved when I had a boarding pass that showed my ticket seat number. The next thing I got moved to another seat with nom apology!!!!!! or explanation. | The SAA app is not very user friendly. Check in was complicated and not much information was given. I was not able to put my boardingpass in my iphone wallet as well.
Boarding procedure was poor. No announcements even though we started boarding late. No screen information. Not even one announcement so we ended up in the back of the line. This resulted that our handluggage had to be checked which I was not pleased with as I payed more to have my hand luggage with me. When arriving in JNB all the gate checked bags were not there and after some confusing information and having to wait the bags finally came. Not very good service at all.

The departure:
My first flight from CPT to JHB was delayed which we were informed of as the flight was due to take off. Staff unhelpful and unsure, both at the airport and call centre. This created anxiety, specifically as my next flight was scheduled almost directly after my arrival in JHB.
At check in I was also asked for a vaccination proof, which wasnt necessary due to Mauritius regulation, but was demanded. I wasnt prepared for this, and once again made the experience a stressful one.
The return:
Staff at Mauritius airport were rude, unhelpful, and arrogant. Further, no masks available for passengers despite them being necessary in the airport.
Flights from JHB to CPT scheduled tightly together, despite having to go through customs at JHB. Nonsensical. Again, when calling the call centre, or requesting help from staff around this, they were unhelpful.

| I arrived in Johannesburg from London Heathrow, after my British Airways flight was delayed by 1 h 30 mins. I managed to get to the check-in desk in time to board my connecting SAA flight to Durban but was told that SAA had not issued my ticket and that it was too much trouble to issue it then since they had already closed the flight. I did not have checked luggage and the ticket was issued by the SAA ticket desk immediately, once I had spoken to them and told them what the issue was. |

| It was really good to travel on SAA again. It used to be my airline of choice. I had forgotten how much larger and comfortable the seats are compared to some of the low cost carriers. And to have a meal served wow !
I will definitely be giving SAA another chance with my flights going forward.
The plane made some strange noises (hydraulics) during the landing so I did find myself wonder about the craft maintenance (have costs been cut too far), but presumably the regulator would close the operation down if maintenance was not up to standard. |

| I had a connecting flight with Airfrance, only 1 hour connection.
My handluggage was taken away from me at the airplane door and despite begging to keep it since i had this very short connection and waiting for my luggae at the belt would cost me time, the luggage was taken anyway. More than that, I was told in a very loud manner that this ticket i booked was "illegal" (completely misplaced use of words) because of the length of the connection. Was treated by a criminal by a group of staff with 0.00 capacity to assess individual situations and decide accordingly. Especially frustrating as there was plenty of space left in the overhead compartments when we took off. I had to run like a mad person to catch my connection. Planning to circumvent south african airlines at all cost from now on. I will also take this up with Airfrance which should not offer this connection anymore with your airline.

When i changed seats to a more suitable seat, I was told by cabin crew I cannot sit in a n empty seat as it was blocked out for Cabin crew to rest on their return, this is 3 seats for one person. | My flight with SA52 on 3rd September to Accra was not pleasant. Your cabin crew was able to give other people wine when requested. They told me there was none. Apart from that, I know that water is life therefore, it should be a basic item given without it being requested for it. When your cabin crew where going round they forgot to give me water, I alerted them and they told me they will return with the water. They never did for all the hours i spent in the air and landed in Accra. Even the other person sitting beside me reminded them that i have requested for water, and they said they were going to bring it, but it never came. I dont think i will recommend SA52 for any of my clients. I will prefer another Airline. Thank you.

In general i will like to encourage SA cabin crew to be more friendly to people in the economy class. Sometimes i feel people in the economy class are not regarded much. meanwhile, every drop of rand is money. Therefore every client should be treated like a queen or a king. SA53 are trying though but can do better. But for SA 52 it is a big no for me. |

Mr and Mrs Choonara and the kids on economy class..last night my toddler fell ill with fever and was sick .. we tried to upgrade his ticket at the airport unfortunately all the tickets on business class was sold out. My Lo was crying and didn’t want to sit with his siblings and just wanted his mom . This airhostess insisted my husband go and sit in economy class and although the baby sat on moms lap for over 3 hrs the business class seat was empty .. this air hostess was totally rude insisting that we paid for 2 seats so we get 2 seats even though the baby was sitting on moms lap. We are really upset she spoiled our

| I was booked to fly from Jhb to Dbn at 13h30 on SA555. Despite proceeding through the boarding gate security check without any issues, on boarding the plane it was brought to my attention by the air hostess that the boarding pass issued to me upon check-in belonged to someone else already checked in. I was summarily kicked off the flight, which was then also delayed because my luggage had to be located and removed from the hold. I was put on a later flight, SA571 at 16h55, which completely messed up my plans due to arrival in Dbn 3.5hrs later than planned. I have to question how this mess actually occurred and then was also not picked up during the pre-boarding security check, which should at least have flagged that the same person had checked in twice? Imagine if I had missed an important meeting or a connecting flight to another destination because of this? Very inconvenient to say the least. |

I was told that the flight was overbooked by 5 passengers and that even though my ticket was purchased 3 weeks ago, I had no seat anymore. | I flew on friday night from Cpt to Jhb, and the return leg on Sunday. After doing an online check in, opted to send my boarding pass on email. To my surprised, the boarding pass never arrived. I tried 4x, and no luck. I had to go to the counter at the airport to get a printed boarding pass. Come on, we are living in the 21st century.

The counter gentleman at OR Tambo was even worse, he wouldnt listen to my problem, told me it has nothing to do with him, and I must just send an email to Customer service. How ignorant. I told him Airlink email system does work, and its convenient to use them. That did not even bother him, its like I am just one customer which you are about to lose. No communication from your ground staff as to what was happening. Travellers had to individually enquire. Your staff member Vivian [at the check-in counter] has a terrible attitude, doesn't listen and shouldn't be dealing with customers. I take the trouble to check-in online and book an aisle seat due to health reasons. On the flight back I requested an aisle seat and was not allocated one. I find it ludicrous that flights can be cancelled at the last moment because it doesn't suit the airline. |

| My last trip with SAA before this was cancelled in March 2020 (of course: no refund), as SAA went out of business on international routes. This next flight in September 2022 was postponed for two hours, so that my wife and I just caught the connecting flight, but the luggage stayed in Johannesburg. So we had to go back to the airport to pick it up next morning (or could have sent it to the hotel, which we regarded as risky).

Since I am using wheelchair assistance, I am used to having air hostesses helping me with my bags to my sit. Our travel plans changed resulting in the outbound JNB - CPT flight on Oct 6 no longer being required. I spoke with an agent at your call center and requested that the Oct 6 flight be cancelled. The Oct 10 flight will remain unaffected.
I received an email confirming the cancellation and indicating that the residual value for the refundable balance is only 666.96 ZAR per ticket.
The total cost of each ticket was 7494.92 ZAR, presumably including a cost of 3747.46 ZAR per flight. Since I cancelled one entire flight, I am uncertain why I am only being refunded 666.96 ZAR of a business class flight that cost 3747.46 ZAR.

| My experience would have been excellent had it not been for a discriminatory act on the part of a very grumpy air stewardess who insisted that my hand luggage be checked in.
I am a Voyager Silver member and as such was allowed to use the priority boarding queue. As such, I was one of the first passengers who approached the plane I had my computer bag (which I always stow in my sight under the seat in froint of me) and a single piece of hand luggage with me. I was asked which row I am in and when I answered 'row 11' was very discourteously told to hand in my bag. I did not mind, but what irked me was when I saw other passengers pass my seat with 3,4 and even 5 bags, which they crammed into the overhead compartment. Consistency and courtesy should be applied across the board irrespective of race or gender. |

She was told that the driver was on his way to my house and I was waiting for him to call me as he needed to call me to get a code. I also emphasized to Amy in the morning that they need a code from me . I even said to her give me your number so that i can communicate with you , she did say though that she was knocking off at 12.00pm but she will make sure that my suitcase is delivered pronto. I even asked if they had a driver on standby , to which she replied yes and in fact told me as i was leaving that she will contact him and tell him to be ready for the ZIMBALI delivery. Basically, i waited and there were cars and people in my house as were doing a show, and the driver never pitched. Later on when i eventually got hold of some lady whose name i did not take as i was already fuming , told me the driver did come to my house and found no one . What blatant lies and HOGWASH!
Firstly, you can NEVER HAVE ACCESS in ZIMBALI Coastal Estate without a code. Secondly , supposed he got in the Estate by some MIRACLE, what he doesn’t know is that there were two cars, six guys outside and two ladies inside . Given the above how is it possible that your driver came into my house and found nobody. I caught them in their lies!!! What a shame for SAA , no wonder it find itself in these problems, no sense of commitment to PROFFESIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to eventually collect my suitcase in the late afternoon on my way back to Johannesburg. You could see the delivery note& a duplicate were still intact , no one bothered to deliver anything, and from the tag my suitcase came with the plane that landed at 9.55am. At least i will never travel SAA again, period. |

| The main issues pertained to my boarding experience. I travel quite extensively for business. When boarding I was stopped by a cabin crew member and advised that she would have to check my bag. I only had a laptop bag with me and one piece on hand luggage that adhered to the size limitations. The same way I have been travelling for the last 5 years and I have never had any issues. I explained to the cabin member that I was travelling with other individuals and that I could not check bags as we had a transfer together. I also advised that I only had one bag and one laptop bag which was within regulation. She then quite rudely said that my bag was not a laptop bag. I did not even bring a handbag as I knew I could not have any issues on the day. I think my main issue was that post my interaction and I was the second person to board, their was numerous people who boarded the plane who had similar luggage situations to mine but they were allowed both pieces. Even my colleagues were allowed to bring both their laptop bag and hand luggage onboard. |

It was getting late and the back and forth we wish to log an incident for this as our luggage was not handled well.
Apart from our broken luggage i wish to commend a flight attendant.There is a hostess who managed a situation very well and would like to commend her where an old lady brought in food in a bag that was leaking. It was not right of her and negetively impact other passengers not to mention the bad smell from it the passengers wanted this matter taken up and the lady removed however the lady was an old citizen the flight attended asked the passengers to show a bit of kindness and did her best to clean up the leakage. I loved the humanity the small was bad and such items should not be brought in perhaps when scanning this should have been checked but we all have flaws she asked the passengers to extend a bit of kindness and imagine how they would wish to be treated. Well done, she is black with short hair and light in complexion. |

No re-assurance from the cockpit that it was ok. Flight was delayed in jhb, was told that people were getting off the plane and the luggage removed, but this we did not see and it was commented by the person next to me. My hand luggage was taking at the entrance to the plane and when we landed in cape town was told it would be on the belt, this is unacceptable as their is a reason why it was a hand luggage case as I did not want to wait at the belt for my case to arrive as I needed to get home to a sick mom urgently. |

| On 27th September my suitcase was damaged. SAA staff in Johannesburg gave me a broken suitcase to transfer my clothes into while the other was repaired. The loan case was also broken that I had to spend R100 to have it wrapped. I will never get that money from SAA! Two weeks ago, an SAA staff member phoned to say my case was ready and I must fetch it at CT airport. I refused and told her I wanted it delivered. She refused. I left it at the airport but I had to go back to Johannesburg because of a death in the family and went to fetch it today. They could not find it and after an hour, got it.
On 28th October I came back to Cape Town and my current suitcase was also damaged. I had to transfer my clothes again to the repaired suitcase this time. The whole exercise took l-1/4 hours. Shocking!! I was told I would have to fetch that one too!!! You need to deliver that suitcase to my home in Cape Town or I will seek legal advice. |

| I had a very bad experience with Ms Khoza H who received me from the flight from Durban with a wheelchair. I have been using wheelchair services for years now but her treatment was very demeaning. She asked me whether I have a bag and how big is the bag. This is a standard question which all your staff when they pick us up from flights and I was not offended by this. I told her the bag is very small. She then threatened to leave me at the baggage claim because she can't push both wheelchair and my bag, even though it was very small. She wanted to dump me at the trolley sections and I told her I won't be able to walk to the carousels When we arrived at the corousel she wanted to dump me again and I asked her to get my bag at least from the belt. When I told her that it is fine she can leave me, she felt guilty when she saw my bag and said why didn't I tell her that the bag is small, even though I did tell her the bag is small. She then said it's because oyher passengers lie to her and say the bag is small meanwhile it is not. She then pushed me out to the benches and wanted to dump me there, and I asked her to at least push me outside the terminal because my transport was waiting for me outside. When we arrived outside, she didn't even help me with my bags, she just couldn't wait for me to get out of the wheelchair. This was the first time I received such horrid services, and it was very traumatising and she made sure that I felt that I was disabled and had to beg her for assistance. If these are the kind of staff SAA is using now I must say it is horrible. I hope you will attend to this to avoid her traumatising other people with disabilities who are not able to waltz through this big airport because we are not blessed with legs like her. |

I asked the cabin attendant why she had continued to provide this obviously drunk man more alcohol. She said because he asked for it. I explained it was having negative consequences on my flight experience. However, SAA must take responsibility and act responsibly. Further, we were in an agreement it row, with this drunk compromising safety because he was clearly incapable of helping. I expect a response and remedial action from SAA. |

After a lot of struggle with my transfer company, I managed to get to the airport and I arrived at the check-in counter for my boarding pass 40minutes before departure. The attendants gave me a lot of grief and were rude. They kept telling me that I was late and almost shouted at me. It was unecessary and some compassion would have gone a loooooong way with your customer. I'm not sure if you need to re-look at your culture and how you treat your staff, because they were clearly not giving the best experience to your clients! And sometimes people do so when they are themselves not treated well as employees! |

I think it would be nice if the pilot came out of the cockpit to do his announcement pre flight as well as said goodbye personally. KLM and BA have done this and it’s nice a really nice touch. It helps put nervous fliers at ease when they know who is flying the plane. |

| The staff at check in made us wait for too long such that we had to run through security and immigration in fear of missing our flight. They had 3 check in points happening at the same place; Durban, Mauritius and Zimbabwe. The better thing would be to separate all. And also if we are delayed at your expense go with us to all check points and make sure we are served first, we don’t need unnecessary anxiety that we might be left behind. |

| Oh my word, the lady pilot who flew us from Lusaka to Johannesburg on the 9 November 2022 flight SA 63 the 13:25 flight,deserve soo much recognition. The way she flew that plane with her co pilot through the bumpy clouds was amazing and how she tried to take us out of the bumps. Amazing…. |

| The flight attendant at the hallway held back my bag saying that the flight was full and that I must hand it in. I told her that I have always been travelling with this bag with SAA and other airlines without any problems and i have fragile items in my travel case.
When the doors were closed the flight was only 50% full and I had the 2 other seats next me empty.
On picking up my bag my fragile glass gift was broken. |
